Election, appointments, grants of title, and reappointments

The following election, appointments, grants of title, and reappointments have been made:

Election

Professor James R. Rice, B.S., M.S., Ph.D., Lehigh, Mallinckrodt Professor of Engineering Sciences and Geophysics at Harvard University, elected Rothschild Visiting Professor from 1 September 2003 until 30 September 2003, assigned to the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences.

Appointments

Director of Institute

Public Health. Dr Ronald Leslie Zimmern, T, appointed from 1 January 2003 for five years.

Resident

Clinical Veterinary Medicine. Mr Sean Patrick Haugland, B.V.Sc., Pretoria, MRCVS, appointed from 4 November 2002 for three years.

Senior Computer Officer

Computing Service. Mr Robert John Dowling, M.A., SID, appointed from 1 October 2002 until the retiring age.

Grants of Title

Affiliated Lecturers

Classics. Dr Sara Susan Owen, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., M, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2002 for two years.

Italian. Dr Abigail Sarah Brundin, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., CTH, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2002 for two years.

Land Economy. Ms Sue Chadwick, M.A., W, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2002 for one year.

Oriental Studies. Dr Erica Hunter, Dr Kate Spence, CHR, and Dr Peter Williams have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2002 for a further two years.

Other Languages. Mrs Erna Eagar has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2002 for a further two years.

Reappointments

University Assistant Lecturer

Geography. Dr Daniel Low-Beer, SID, reappointed from 1 October 2003 for two years.

Head of Department

History and Philosophy of Science. Professor Peter Lipton, K, reappointed from 1 January 2003 for five years.

Technical Officers

Chemistry. Mr Raymond Anthony Freshwater reappointed from 1 June 2003 for five years.

Engineering. Mr Richard Mark Taylor reappointed from 1 January 2003 for five years.

Computer Officers

Biochemistry. Mr David Philip Judge reappointed Computer Officer, Grade II, from 1 October 2002 until the retiring age.

Computing Service. Ms Kate M. Jeary reappointed Computer Officer, Grade II, from 1 August 2002 until the retiring age.

Administrative Officer

Finance Division. Mr Andrew J. Harnwell reappointed Administrative Officer, Grade II, from 8 November 2002 until the retiring age.

Correction

Certain of the details published in the 2 October 2002 edition of the Reporter are incorrect. They should read as follows:
