Sidney Sussex College

TWO COLLEGE LECTURESHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS IN HISTORY AND LAW

Applications are invited for College Lectureships - one in History and one in Law - from 1 October 2003, or as soon as possible thereafter. Both are fixed-term appointments for a period of five years.

The College Lecturer in History will be expected to undertake research and be able to teach within the area of modern history, with preference given to nineteenth- or twentieth-century British, European, or American history, and will also be required to be a Director of Studies in History. The Lecturer will be elected into an Official Fellowship.

The College is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Law who is able to teach in at least two of the core subjects of the Law Tripos, namely contract law, criminal law, equity, and tort, and who will conduct research. The successful applicant will be elected into an Official Fellowship, entitled the John Thornely Fellowship, and will be required to be a Director of Studies in Law.

The pensionable stipend for both of these Lectureships will be on the scale of £20,470 to £24,435. These are appointments for people near the start of their academic careers, and consequently the successful candidates are likely to have completed their Ph.D. Degrees not more than seven years prior to taking up the post.

The closing date for applications is 14 February 2003. Application forms and further particulars are available from the Master, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, CB2 3HU.

Sidney Sussex College is an equal opportunities employer.
