REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICE BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Education Studies Tripos

SCHEDULE I

SUBJECTS AND PAPERS FOR SECTION II OF PART I OF THE EDUCATION STUDIES TRIPOS

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 290)

With immediate effect

The purpose of the amendment is to include in Schedule I an alternative course in Mathematics.

The Faculty Board of Education are satisfied that no candidate's preparation for the examination in 2003 will be adversely affected by this amendment


Mathematics

By amending the detail so as to read:

Either (a) Three papers chosen from among the papers set for Part IA of the Mathematical Tripos.
or (b) Five papers as follows:
 *Paper M1. Algebra and geometry.
 *Paper M2. Theory of numbers.
 *Paper M3. Numerical methods and discrete mathematics.
 *Paper M4. Mathematics education.
 *Paper M5. Probability.
 The examination for each of Papers M1-3 consists of a written paper of three hours' duration together with the submission of a project report on a topic chosen from an approved list. The examination for Paper M4 consists of the submission of a report on topics in Mathematics Education. The examination for Paper M5 consists of a written paper of one and a half hours' duration together with the submission of a report on a topic chosen from a list of approved topics.
