Mellon Research Fellowship in American History: Notice

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 817)

Applications are invited for two Mellon Research Fellowships in American History. The first is tenable for up to two years, the second for a maximum of four years. Both Fellowships would commence on 1 October 2003. It is expected that candidates will either have completed a Ph.D. Degree dissertation or will be able to submit substantial written work if requested. Appointment will be made on the Research Assistant or Research Associate scales (currently £18,265 to £27,339 a year).

Further particulars may be obtained from the Secretary of the Mellon Fellowship Fund, Faculty of History, West Road, Cambridge, CB3 9EF, to whom applications should also be sent to arrive by 10 January 2003. Applications (quoting ref. R21 and indicating which post you are applying for) should include a statement of proposed research and a curriculum vitae, together with the names of three referees who have knowledge of the candidate's work. Candidates should ask their referees to send references direct to the Secretary to the Managers to arrive by 10 January 2003. Applications may also be sent by e-mail to agh21@cam.ac.uk. The Appointments Committee will first meet in early February and will then request samples of work from short-listed candidates. The Appointments Committee hopes to meet again in March to make the appointment. It will not ask candidates for interview.
