University Lecturers

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for an initial period of three or five years, with reappointment thereafter subject to satisfactory performance. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £23,296 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £35,950.

Seven University Lectureships in the Judge Institute of Management Studies

As part of its continuing expansion, the Judge Institute of Management Studies wishes to recruit seven new University Lecturers with expertise in any one or more of the following subject areas: accounting; econometrics/statistics; finance; information systems; macroeconomic policy/international macroeconomics; management science and operations research; operations management; small firms/entrepreneurship; innovation; strategy. Appointment will be from 1 September 2003.

Two University Lectureships in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics

Applications are invited for two established posts in the Statistical Laboratory of the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, beginning on or after 1 October 2003. The positions are open to candidates with interests in any area of mathematical finance. This area is led by Professor Chris Rogers.

Candidates will have a strong research record in some branch of mathematical finance, and will be expected to contribute to the teaching and research programmes of the Laboratory.

Assistant Treasurer in the Finance Division

Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Treasurer (Insurance Officer) to take up appointment as soon as possible. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the post-holder will be responsible for the management and administration of the University's insurances. The successful candidate will manage relationships with insurers and risk advisers, and will produce records and statistics and detailed reports on insurance to the Finance Committee. He/she will be the central point of contact for all insurance matters within the University, and will give advice and guidance to approximately 140 Departments and some input to risk management projects. An assistant will report to the post-holder.

The job requires considerable self-motivation and candidates must be able to demonstrate good analytical, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills.

Candidates should have an insurance background with appropriate management and administrative experience and should be educated to at least degree level or equivalent. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Assistant Treasurer is £23,296 to £35,950 a year.

Administrative Officer, Grade II, in the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art

Administrative Officer, Grade II, in the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art, to take up appointment as soon as possible after 1 January 2003.

Candidates should be educated to degree level and have previous relevant experience in an administrative post, with proven ability in managing resources and staff, preferably gained in a higher education establishment.

Appointment will be for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment subject to satisfactory performance. The scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade II, is £21,125 to £27,339 a year.

Max Newman Research Fellowship in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics

Applications are invited for the Max Newman Research Fellowship, tenable for three years from 1 October 2003, to carry out research in Pure Mathematics (including probability and the mathematical aspects of Computer Science). The salary on appointment will be £24,121 a year. The Fellow will, in addition, hold a part-time consultancy post at Government Communications Headquarters, Cheltenham, for two months each summer, for which the Fellow will be paid a consultancy fee of £3,000 a year. A generous allowance is provided for academic travel.
