Theological and Religious Studies Tripos, 2003

The Faculty Board of Divinity give notice that the form of the examinations for the Theological and Religious Studies Tripos, will be as follows:

Group A

Paper A8. Philosophy of religion and ethics

The examination will consist of a three-hour written examination. The paper will consist of two sections, A and B. Section A will contain eight questions on the four set texts in the philosophy of religion; Section B will contain eight questions on the four set texts in ethics. Candidates will be required to answer four questions, two from each section.

Group B

Paper B8. Study of theology I

The examination for this paper will take the form of a three-hour written paper. The paper will contain at least fourteen questions, of which candidates are required to answer three.

Paper B10. Philosophy of religion: God, freedom, and the soul

The examination will take the form of a three-hour written paper. The paper will consist of two sections, A and B. Section A will contain at least eight questions on the set texts for this paper; Section B will contain at least six general questions on philosophical theology. Candidates will be required to answer four questions, at least one from each section.

Group C

Paper C1. Advanced languages and texts

B. Greek

The examination for this paper will consist of a three-hour written paper. Candidates will be required to comment on three passages, one from each of the set texts, and to attempt one essay question out of a choice of three. Copies of the New Testament in Greek will be provided.

Paper C3. Jesus and early Christology

The examination will consist of a three-hour written paper. Candidates will be required to attempt three questions from a choice of eight. Copies of the New Testament in Greek and the NRSV Bible will be provided.
