Corpus Christi

Elected into a Class F Fellowship in accordance with Ordinance D, with effect from 15 October 2002:

Miss Rachel Shaw

PARKER-TAYLOR BIBLIOGRAPHER

As well as an extremely important collection of Anglo-Saxon manuscripts, the Parker Library comprises approximately 5,000 books in total. The principal job of the Parker-Taylor Bibliographer will be to catalogue the collection onto an electronic database (Voyager) to MARC 21 standards. This will inevitably lead to questions of the identification of provenances, including establishing criteria for which volumes were Parker's own copies (which is not always obvious).

The successful applicant will need to be competent not only in the principles of bibliographical description and computerized cataloguing systems, but also proficient in the history of book-binding and the arrangement of libraries and in reading renaissance handwriting, usually in Latin.

In return the College will offer a competitive salary and attractive benefits. The successful candidate, if suitably qualified, will also be considered for a Fellowship in Bibliography.

Further details and an application form may be obtained from Lyn Goodenough, Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, CB2 1RH (tel. 01223 339995, e-mail lg257@cam.ac.uk). The closing date for applications is 29 November 2002.

Corpus Christi College is an equal opportunities employer.
