1. That the provisions of sections 6 to 14 of Statute D, Chapter V, come into force on 1 January 2003.1

2. That the regulations for dates of examinations and publication of class-lists (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 212) be amended, with effect from 1 October 2002, as follows:2

Regulation 2.

(B) By removing the footnote and text in parentheses attached to the Engineering Tripos, Part IIB, under 'Monday before the first day of the Full Easter Term'.

(C) By removing the entry for the Engineering Tripos, Part IIA and the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos, Part I, under 'Second Tuesday of Full Easter Term'.

(D) By adding the following entries:

First Thursday of Full Easter Term Engineering Tripos, Part IIA

First Friday of Full Easter Term Manufacturing Engineering Tripos, Part I

Tuesday before last Sunday in May Architecture Tripos, Parts IA and IB

Wednesday before last Sunday in May Architecture Tripos, Part II

Regulation 3.

By removing the words

Electrical and Information Sciences Tripos, Part II, and Engineering Tripos, Part IIB (Lent Term examination).

The Monday that next precedes the first day of Full Lent Term.

3. That, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of History and the Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography, and with the concurrence of the General Board, the Readership in Historical Demography established from 1 October 1996 in the Faculty of History for Dr R. M. Smith be reassigned to the Department of Geography with effect from 1 October 2002.3

1 This Grace, made under Statute D, V, 15, brings into force the statutory provision for the review jurisdiction for the Commissary. See the Council's Notice and the Rules of Procedure made by the Commissary, p. 178.

2 The Faculty Board of Architecture and History of Art have proposed an earlier start for examinations in the Architecture Tripos in order that candidates may be examined in the various components over a longer period. The Faculty Board of Engineering have reviewed the teaching and examining arrangements for various Parts of the Triposes for which they are responsible, so as to achieve a closer integration of those arrangements and allow for a broader choice of papers by candidates and an improved timetable within which candidates make their choices. As a consequence of that review, the Faculty Board wish to consolidate all examinations for these Parts of the Triposes into a three-week period beginning on the Monday before the first day of the Full Easter Term.

3 Recent changes in the duties and the research interests undertaken by Dr R. M. Smith, the present holder of the Readership, make it appropriate to reassign the office to the Department of Geography. This proposal has the support of Dr Smith and of the two Faculty Boards and of the Head of the Department concerned.
