Vacancies in the University

University Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in the Department of Psychiatry (Psychiatry of Learning Disabilities)

University Lecturer in the Psychiatry of Learning Disabilities at Consultant Level with Professor A. J. Holland, holder of the recently established PPP Foundation Chair in Learning Disabilities, in the Department of Psychiatry, to take up appointment as soon as possible. The successful applicant, who will be recommended for an honorary consultant contract with the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire NHS Mental Health Trust, will be required to undertake teaching, research, and clinical work. The appointment will be for five years, with the possibility of reappointment to the retiring age.

The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is currently £22,522 a year rising by eleven annual increments to £34,734 a year. The post-holder will be eligible to receive an additional payment for clinical responsibility related to the amount of NHS work undertaken. If, as expected, the Lecturer undertakes the equivalent of six or more NHS sessions a week of clinical work the overall stipend will be in line with a point on the NHS salary scale for consultants (£52,640 - £68,505).

Senior Computer Officer in the University Computing Service

The University Computing Service has a vacancy for a Senior Computer Officer (Head of the Unix Systems Division) following the retirement of the present post-holder.

The Division comprises fourteen professional staff and is responsible for all aspects of Unix Systems and Unix-based services within the Computing Service, including direct provision of Unix facilities, expert support for private and departmental Unix sysadmins, and the provision of the University's principal e-mail, Web, and news services.

The position requires both technical and managerial skills; creative, perceptive, and realistic forward planning for both the Division and the Computing Service as a whole is also expected, in conjunction with the rest of the senior management team. Substantial experience is essential, together with a sound understanding of current mainstream Unix systems and Unix-based services. The pensionable stipend for a Senior Computer Officer is currently £39,986 a year.
