Events at the Fitzwilliam Museum

Lunchtime Gallery talks, under the title of Art in context, will take place on Wednesdays, at 1.15 p.m., during Michaelmas Term. Admission is free.

23 October Hilliard and Oliver: Limners to the English Court, by David Scrase, Keeper of Paintings, Drawings, and Prints.
30 October Italian illuminators: cuttings and collectors, by Stella Panayotova, Assistant Keeper of Manuscripts and Printed Books.
6 November Ovid's Metamorphoses and Maiolica painting: a dish from the Isabella D'Este service, by Julia Poole, Senior Assistant Keeper, Applied Arts.
13 November Servants for the afterlife: avoiding drudgery in Ancient Egypt, by Helen Strudwick, Research Assistant.
20 November Experiments in stone: Egyptian sculptors' 'models', by Sally-Ann Ashton, Assistant Keeper, Antiquities.
27 November Inside bronzes: secrets of the sculptor's art, by Julie Dawson, Senior Assistant Keeper Conservation and Jo Dillon, Metals Conservator.
4 December 'All over trees': Monet's poplars, by Jane Munro, Senior Assistant Keeper Paintings, Drawings and Prints.

The Institute of Visual Culture, which will occupy a specially designated gallery on the Museum's North Lawn until December 2003, will be hosting the following exhibitions:

No Ghost Just a Shell (2 December - 19 January 2003)

The Cambridge Collections Lecture Series will take place on Mondays at 5 p.m., throughout Michaelmas Term, in the Babbage Lecture Theatre, New Museums Site, Pembroke Street. Admission is free.

An evening piano recital will take place on Thursday, 24 October, at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are priced £12 (£10 concessions) and are available from the Cambridge Arts Box Office (tel. 01223 503333).
