The Susie Frearson Prize

The Chairman of the Rank Foundation, Mr F. Packard, is offering a £1,000 prize for a young woman writer. It is in memory of his sister, Mrs Susie Frearson, who was a keen local journalist and who died recently. The money would be available to the winner to enable her to undertake foreign travel in the calendar year of the award.

The competition which is open in the 2002-2003 academic year to any woman undergraduate at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol and Edinburgh requires entrants to write a short story of not more than 1500 words (typed). The closing date is 1 February 2003 and the award will be made by 1 March. Entry forms can be obtained from Mr SJB Langdale, Park House, Culworth, Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX17 2AP.
