Statutes approved: Notice

The Registrary has received notice from the Clerk at the Privy Council Office that Her Majesty the Queen, at a Council held on 16 July 2002, was pleased to approve two amendments of Statute D which were submitted under the Common Seal of the University in accordance with Graces 2 of 17 October and 11 of 12 December 2001.

The first amendment authorized relates to the office of Commissary (see the Second Report of the Council on the office of Commissary, dated 14 May 2001, Reporter, 2000-01, p. 696). Under the new Statute D, V, 15 the date on which the provisions of the new sections are to come into force is to be determined by Grace. The Council propose to submit a Grace for this purpose during the Michaelmas Term 2002.

The second amendment authorized relates to the nature of College offices that may be held by Professors and on the amount of College teaching that they may undertake (see the Joint Report of the Council and the General Board on the relaxation of the restrictions on the holding of certain College offices and on the amount of College teaching that may be undertaken by Professors and Readers and academic-related officers, dated 23 July and 11 July 2001, Reporter, 2000-01, p. 1010). Following the approval of this Statute the general regulation for the amount of teaching that a Professor may undertake came into effect on the same date, 16 July 2002.
