Second M.B. Examination (Revised Regulations) and Second Vet.M.B. Examination (Revised Regulations)

The subject 'Introduction to the Scientific Basis of Medicine' has been introduced as a subject for examination in both the Second M.B. and Second Vet.M.B. Examinations with effect from 1 October 2002. Regulations 7 and 8 for the Vet.M.B. Degree have been further amended (see also Reporter, p. 611) with respect to the subject Preparing for the Veterinary Profession (PFVP). The current two-part subject PFVPA and PFVPB will be replaced by a single subject PFVP with effect from 1 October 2003. The subject PFVPA will not be available in 2002-03.

With effect from 1 October 2002

Regulation 9.

By inserting in the list of subjects 'Introduction to the Scientific Basis of Medicine (ISBM)', and by relettering sub-paragraph (d) as (e) and inserting the following new sub-paragraph (d):

(d) The examination in ISBM shall consist of a written paper of forty-five minutes.

Regulation 10.

By amending sub-paragraph (b) so as to read:

(b) The examinations in MSOC and ISBM shall be held twice a year, on the last day of Full Lent Term and on the third Monday after the last day of Full Easter Term.

Regulation 14.

By inserting in sub-paragraph (a)(i) and (ii) after 'MSOC' in each case 'or ISBM'.

With effect from 1 October 2002

Regulation 7.

By replacing in the list of subjects of the Second Vet.M.B. Examination 'Preparing for the Veterinary Profession A (PFVPA)' by 'Preparing for the Veterinary Profession (PFVP)', by inserting in the list of subjects 'Introduction to the Scientific Basis of Medicine (ISBM)', and by amending sub-paragraph (e) so as to read:

(e) The examination in ISBM shall consist of a written paper of forty-five minutes.

Regulation 8.

By deleting sub-paragraph (b) and relettering sub-paragraph (c) as (b), and amending this sub-paragraph so as to read:

(b) The examinations in FAH and ISBM shall be held twice a year, on the last day of Full Lent Term and on the third Monday after the last day of Full Easter Term.

Regulation 12.

By inserting in sub-paragraph (a)(i) and (ii) after 'FAH' in each case 'or ISBM'.

With effect from 1 October 2003

Regulations 7 and 8.

By deleting the subject 'Preparing for the Veterinary Profession B (PFVPB)' from the list of subjects of the Second Vet.M.B. Examination, and by replacing references to 'PFVPB' by 'PFVP'.

SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

(Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 450 and 515)

With effect from 1 October 2002, the supplementary regulation for the subject 'Introduction to the Scientific Basis of Medicine' shall be as follows:

Introduction to the Scientific Basis of Medicine (ISBM)

The examination will consist of compulsory short-answer or computer-marked questions on the ISBM course.

The Faculty Board of Clinical Veterinary Medicine have approved a new supplementary regulation for the subject PFVP, with effect from 1 October 2003, as follows

Preparing for the Veterinary Profession (PFVP)

The examination will test knowledge of the material contained in both the first and second year components of the PFVP course.

The supplementary regulations for the subject PFVPA will be rescinded with effect from 1 October 2002, and for PFVPB with effect from 1 October 2003.
