Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies

HEBREW CATALOGUER

Applications are invited for this temporary post, which is available from 1 October or as soon as possible thereafter, and is expected to last for no more than three years. The Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies has a library of approximately 30,000 Hebrew-language books, the largest section of which consists of Modern Hebrew literature.

Library qualifications or familiarity with Hebrew in transliterations are not essential. The appointee, who will be trained in using a Hebrew cataloguing programme designed according to MARC21 and will be supervised by the Librarian, should be able to meet the tight targets of the project (an average of eight titles an hour). The salary will be £16,826 to £20,051 a year.

Letters of application, together with curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of two referees, should be sent to Dr Piet van Boxel, Librarian, Leopold Muller Memorial Library, Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, Yarnton Manor, Yarnton, Oxford, OX5 1PY, by 31 July 2002.
