COLLEGE NOTICES

Christ's College

ALUMNI OFFICER

Christ's College has launched a major development programme, focused initially on the College's 500th anniversary in 2005. As an integral part of this programme, the College is actively fostering a close and mutually beneficial relationship with its members. The role of Alumni Officer remains key in this regard. As well as managing the College's successful and innovative alumni relations programme, in particular the Year Group Representative Scheme and the alumni website, the Alumni Officer will support the broader work of the Development Director, including managing the College's alumni database and the work of the half-time Database/Alumni Assistant; organizing members' events; co-ordinating mailings; and liaising with the Cambridge University Development Office, Cambridge in America, other College development offices, and the suppliers of affinity services.

Applicants should have a university degree, good written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have a confident and outgoing personality, and will enjoy meeting and interacting with a wide range of people, including graduates of the College holding senior positions in business and public life. Numeracy and familiarity with Windows-based platforms are essential; knowledge of Raiser's Edge software is also highly desirable. Short-listed applicants will probably have one or more years' work experience in an office environment, preferably in alumni relations and/or fundraising. However, recent graduates will also be considered. Salary will be in the range of £17,626 to £20,470 a year, depending on experience and ability.

Please contact Mrs F. Barker, the Fellows' Secretary, Christ's College, Cambridge, CB2 3BU (tel. 01223 334904, fax 01223 339557, e-mail fmb29@cam.ac.uk) for details and an application form. The closing date for applications is Wednesday, 26 June 2002, with interviews planned for the week beginning Monday, 8 July 2002.

COLLEGE LECTURESHIP AND FELLOWSHIP IN HISTORY

Applications are invited for a College Lectureship in any field of British or continental European history since 1500, associated with a Fellowship of Christ's College.

The College Lectureship will be tenable from 1 October 2002 and will be for four years. The successful candidate will be expected to reside in Cambridge, to undertake an average of twelve hours' teaching a week during Full Term (at least 240 hours a year), and to act as Director of Studies in History. Candidates should normally teach a wide range of topics within the areas indicated above. The salary will be on an incremental scale between £18,655 and £24,435 a year (reviewed annually in line with national academic stipends), at a starting point depending on age and experience. The stipend is subject to a small deduction if the Fellow is resident in College.

Letters of application (no forms) should be sent to the Master's Secretary, Christ's College, Cambridge, CB2 3BU, to arrive by 17 July 2002. These should include details of qualifications, publications, and experience, and the names and addresses of two persons who have agreed to act as academic referees. Candidates should arrange for their referees to write directly to the Master's Secretary so that references are received by the closing date of 17 July 2002. Short-listed candidates will be asked for copies of written work and will be interviewed on Tuesday, 6 August 2002. Further particulars can be obtained from the Master's Secretary or from the College website at http://www.christs.cam.ac.uk/info/jobs/.
