M.B., B.Chir. Degrees, Premedical requirements: Notice

The Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine have approved changes to Schedule A (Premedical requirements) to the regulations for the degrees of M.B., B.Chir. (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 439) as set out below, with effect from 1 October 2002.

Paragraphs 3-5.

By renumbering paragraphs 3-5 as 4-6 respectively and inserting a new paragraph 3 so as to read:

3. For the purpose of this Schedule, the following shall be regarded as the equivalent of a pass at Advanced Subsidiary level:

(a) a pass at Level 5 or above in a subject taken at Subsidiary level of the International Baccalaureate.

Paragraph 6 (previously 5).

By amending the first line of sub-paragraph (a) so as to read:

A student shall be deemed to have completed Part A if he or she has either achieved the required standard in an admissions test approved by the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine or obtained GCSE passes in the following subjects or their approved equivalents (see paragraph (c) below);

By amending sub-paragraph (d) so as to read:

(d) A student shall be deemed to have completed Part B if he or she has obtained honours or has achieved the honours standard in Part IA of the Natural Sciences Tripos.
