St Catherine's College and the Faculty of Philosophy

FULL-TIME JUNIOR LECTURERSHIP IN PHILOSOPHY

St Catherine's College and the Faculty of Philosophy propose to appoint a full-time Junior Lecturer in Philosophy from October 2002 for one year. For the University, the Lecturer will teach four classes a week on average in the eight weeks of each Full Term. In addition, the Lecturer may be asked to undertake some administration and examining for the Faculty. For the College, the Lecturer will teach (in tutorials) six hours a week on average in the eight weeks of each Full Term. This will include at least two First Public Examination subjects (Decartes, Logic, and Mill) and at least three Finals papers (see further particulars for details) to undergraduate students in the various Honour Schools involving Philosophy. In addition, he/she will be expected to play a full role in the running of Philosophy in the College.

The stipend will be at stage three (national spinal point six) of the Junior Lecturer scale (currently £19,681 a year) and will be pensionable. The Lecturer will be a member of the Senior Common Room at St Catherine's College and will have some dining entitlements.
