St Edmund's College

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE AT THE VON HÜGEL INSTITUTE

The Von Hügel Institute of St Edmund's College wishes to appoint a Research Associate to work on the project 'Law, culture, and capabilities: women's social and economic rights in East Africa'. The College is willing to consider applications both from persons with a Ph.D. Degree in Law or from those about to complete their work for a Ph.D. Degree in Law. Experience of fieldwork in East Africa and fluency in Swahili are essential. Part of the work will entail visits to East Africa to carry out interviews and be involved in participatory studies with women from local communities. The post-holder will also collaborate with social workers and will provide basic training in research methodology. The appointment will be from 1 July 2002, or as soon as possible thereafter, for one year on the salary scale of £17,626 to £26,491 a year.

The final date for applications is 19 June 2002. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview during the fourth week of June 2002.
