Examination in Public Health for the M.St. Degree

With effect from 1 October 2002

On the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine, the General Board, with the concurrence of the Board of Graduate Studies and the Institute of Continuing Education, have approved Public Health as a subject for postgraduate study for the M.St. Degree. Special regulations for the examination in that subject have been approved as follows:

Public Health

The scheme of examination for the course of study in Public Health for the degree of Master of Studies shall consist of:

(a) course-work, as prescribed by the Joint Degree Committee for the Faculties of Clinical Medicine and Clinical Veterinary Medicine;
(b) one written paper of three hours in length which may cover all the areas of study prescribed in the syllabus;
(c) a thesis, of not less than 12,000 words and not more than 15,000 words in length, including footnotes and appendices but excluding bibliography, on a subject approved by the Degree Committee.

At the discretion of the Examiners the examination shall include an oral examination on the thesis and on the general field of knowledge within which it falls.
