Gonville and Caius College

ARCHIVIST (PART-TIME)

The Archivist reports to the College's Senior Bursar on a day-to-day basis and to the College's Records Committee quarterly. The position is currently seen as requiring an approximately half-time commitment: this can be arranged flexibly in terms of time and precise content to suit the successful applicant's skills. Key duties may include:

Day-to-day operation of the archive, including: preservation, conservation, arrangement, listing, and arranging access to the Archive's holdings; acting as Deputy Curator of Portraits; developing the Records Management programme, including the implications of electronic records and advising on relevant legislation; preparation/presentation of regular reports on activity.

The Archivist will have a good first degree and in addition, a postgraduate qualification in archive administration is normally expected. Practical experience as an archivist is essential as is an appropriate level of computer literacy. The appointee will also be required to show a high level of interpersonal skills. The salary will be proportional to time on the FTE scale of £17,626 to £21,503 a year plus benefits.
