Homerton College

COLLEGE LECTURER IN HISTORY

Homerton College wishes to appoint a College Lecturer in History from 1 October 2002 for a term of three years in the first instance. The post carries a Fellowship and involves the direction of studies in History and undergraduate teaching of up to twelve hours a week in either modern British or American History. The successful candidate will also be expected to be active in research.

The stipend is on the University Assistant Lecturer's scale of £19,681 to £24,435 a year with a supplement for direction of studies and carries membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme.

PART-TIME ACCESS/SCHOOLS LIAISON OFFICER

Homerton College seeks to appoint a part-time Access/Schools Liaison Officer who will be expected to take responsibility for some pre-application contact with schools in connection with undergraduate admissions to the College, and in particular with the Homerton/LEA linked Access initiative with South Yorkshire and adjacent regions. The appointment will be made on a two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal for a further period. The role will include the organization of open days and other schools liaison events, and, working closely with the Admissions Tutor and Secretary, the development and initiation of new activities designed to widen access to the College. Applications are encouraged from graduates with first-hand experience of the Cambridge undergraduate system and/or experience of teaching or advising sixth-form students. Candidates should be willing to travel and to work flexible hours. The post is pensionable, will be half-time (18 hours), and will be paid pro-rata on the scale of £13,303 to £14,535 a year.
