King's College

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AND POST-DOCTORAL ASSOCIATE POSITION IN CULTURAL STUDIES/CULTURAL HISTORY

King's College wishes to appoint a Junior Research Fellow (which is a Faculty-level position, offering four years of research time), and a Postdoctoral Associate, to work in the field of Cultural Studies and/or Cultural History. The successful candidates may work in any period of cultural history or on any aspect of cultural studies, but will be expected to collaborate with other scholars working in an interdisciplinary manner under the general heading of 'description'. Topics of research may include but are not restricted to: visual anthropology, the history of scientific diagram, the histories of the production and consumption of images, including the cultural history of perception; historiography, the history of the production of knowledge, the history of the book; the social and cultural analysis of display and ceremonial.

The successful candidates will be members of King's College and will be expected to take a full part in College life. Although these are research posts, teaching opportunities will be made available and are encouraged. The basic salary of the Fellowship is £14,883 to £19,114 a year, according to age and academic qualification. The Fellowship may be held for up to four years from 1 October 2002. Subsidized accommodation may be available in College. The basic salary of the Postdoctoral Associate is £15,000 a year. Subsidized accommodation may be available in College. The Postdoctoral Associate position may be held for up to two years from 1 October 2002. Candidates may apply for a Fellowship or a Postdoctoral Associate position or both.
