Somerville College

TEN-HOUR STIPENDIARY LECTURERSHIP IN OLD AND MIDDLE ENGLISH

The College invites applications for a Stipendiary Lecturership in Old and Middle English for two years, starting in October 2002.

The lecturer will be required to provide an annual average of ten hours' teaching a week during the three Full Terms (each lasting eight weeks) of the academic year, although teaching may not be divided equally among the three terms. The appointment will be on point one (currently £16,426) or point two (currently £17,446) for a twelve-hour appointment pro-rata of an incremental scale, depending on experience.

The lecturer will share the use of a teaching room in College and will be a member of the Senior Common Room. He or she will be entitled to a number of meals in College during Full Term. The closing date for applications is Friday, 12 April. Short-listed candidates are likely to be invited for interview in the week beginning 13 May. Candidates invited for interview will be asked to give a five- to ten-minute presentation on their research.
