New Hall

SENIOR TUTOR

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Tutor for a term of three years in the first instance with the possibility of renewal for two further terms, from 1 September 2002.

The Senior Tutor is appointed by the College Council to oversee all academic functions of the College, and has direct responsibility, through the appropriate committees, for the education and welfare of current students and for educational policy. Responsibility for recruitment and selection of undergraduates is devolved to the Access and Schools Liaison Officer and the Admissions Tutor, responsibility for graduate students to the Executive Graduate Tutor. The post is supported by a Tutorial Administrator and Tutorial Secretary.

The administrative element of the post is a 2/3 full-time appointment; the post-holder would normally also carry a four-hour teaching load and research. The salary is related to Point 25 on the scale (that for Senior Lecturers). If a UTO is considered, appropriate arrangements would be negotiated for apportionment of duties and stipend. Sabbatical leave would be considered between terms of appointment.

Further particulars are available from the College Secretary, New Hall, Cambridge, CB3 0DF (tel. 01223 762789, e-mail ep208@hermes.cam.ac.uk). Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, together with a short supporting statement setting out their suitability for the post. The names and addresses of three referees should also be included. The closing date for applications is 22 April. Interviews will take place on the afternoon of 14 May and the morning of 15 May.
