Applications are invited for the following University offices:

University Lecturer/University Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biological Anthropology in collaboration with the Leverhulme Centre for Human Evolutionary Studies (Human Evolution and Development)

Applications are invited for the post of University Lecturer or University Assistant Lecturer in Human Evolution and Development, starting on 1 October 2002. The Lectureship will be part of a collaborative programme of research, with the Department of Zoology, supported by the Leverhulme Trust, in the Leverhulme Centre for Human Evolutionary Studies. Candidates with experience and research interests in the evolution of human development, human evolutionary genetics and development, and/or human evolutionary ecology, are encouraged to apply. Appointment made at University Lecturer level will be for three years in the first instance, with reappointment thereafter subject to satisfactory performance. The age-related pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £22,522 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £34,734. Appointment made at University Assistant Lecturer level will be for three years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The statutory limit of tenure of a University Assistant Lectureship is five years, but all holders of the office of University Assistant Lecturer are considered for possible appointment to the office of University Lecturer during the course of their tenure. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Assistant Lecturer is £19,681 a year, rising by six annual increments to £24,435. Administrative Officer in the Corporate Liaison Office

Applicants are invited for a full-time Administrative Officer to join the team in this busy, friendly office. The role of the Corporate Liaison Office is to create and strengthen relationships between the University and external organizations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone seeking employment in a challenging and dynamic environment within the University.

The postholder will be responsible for the business administration both for the Office and for various projects. This covers financial administration for the Corporate Liaison Office as a whole, including monitoring of the Office's performance against the Business Plan, budgeting and the upkeeping of the Plan, and a significant project management role. The successful applicant will have several years' experience working in financial administration, including financial and management accounting and the development of administrative systems. Detailed knowledge of the University's financial system is essential.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, will be able to work to tight deadlines, and will develop excellent working relationships within the University and with the corporate sector.

Candidates must be educated at least to A level standard or possess equivalent experience with excellent IT and communication skills. Operational experience of financial and management accounting is essential. Funds for this post are available for three years in the first instance and it is expected that the post would, subject to the availability of funding, be renewed for further periods. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade II, is £20,470 a year, rising by six annual increments to £26,491.
