Christ's College

BURSAR

Applications are invited for the post of Bursar, tenable with effect from October 2002. The person appointed will be the senior administrative officer of the College, accountable to the Council and the Governing Body of the College. Responsibilities include the oversight of the College's finances, the development and execution of financial policy, and, in conjunction with professional advisers, the management of investments and external properties. The Bursar acts as Secretary to the Governing Body, the Council, and various College committees. Domestic administration, however, is the responsibility of the Domestic Bursar.

The post offers a range of administrative, financial, and commercial responsibilities in the stimulating environment of a College that celebrates its quincentenary in 2005 and is in the front rank of academic achievement in Cambridge. Applicants should have had experience at senior level in managing people and money. The stipend of the Bursar will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidate and will be in the region of £48,000. The position carries membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme. The appointment is subject to the College's Statutes and Ordinances and is for three years in the first instance with eligibility for re-election for successive periods of up to five years at any one time. The Bursar will be elected to a Fellowship of the College.
