Graces submitted to the Regent House on 27 February 2002

The Council submit the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 113), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 8 March 2002.

1. That the regulations for University Composition Fees be amended, with effect from 1 September 2002, as follows:1

1 Statutes and Ordinances, p. 159. The Secretary of State for Education and Skills has recently announced the fees for home and EU students for 2002-03; in most cases fees have been increased by about 2.4 per cent. A similar increase is proposed for overseas students. No information is yet available about the fees to be charged in 2002-03 for categories U-Y (undergraduate students from the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man).

† The fee for the M.B.A. course is due in a single payment for the year; there is no provision for payment by termly instalments. M.B.A. students pay fees at the H, I, J, or K rate according to the number of terms or weeks spent in residence.

2. That the regulations for dates of examinations and publication of class-lists be amended as follows:2

Regulation 2.

By moving the entry in the table for Parts IA and IB of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos from 'Friday before last Sunday in May' to 'Friday before last Sunday but one in May'.

3. That certain regulations be amended as follows:3

(A) Regulations for Librarians of certain Faculties, Departments, and other institutions.

By inserting a new Regulation 9 so as to read:

9. The General Board shall have power to make alterations in the list of Faculties, Departments, and other institutions specified in the Schedules as they may from time to time think fit.

(B) Regulations for Secretaries and Superintendents of Faculties, Departments, and other institutions under the supervision of the General Board.

By inserting a new Regulation 10 so as to read:

10. The General Board shall have power to make alterations in the list of Faculties, Departments, and other institutions specified in the Schedules as they may from time to time think fit.

2Statutes and Ordinances, p. 212. Because a number of the papers in the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos are available for examination in more than one Part of the Tripos, a common date for the commencement of the examinations in the three Parts has been proposed.

3Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 697 and 700. It is proposed that alterations to the Schedules to these regulations may be made by Notice of the General Board rather than requiring a Grace of the Regent House.
