Clinical Lecturer/Specialist Registrar (Radiology) in the Faculty of Clinical Medicine

Applications are invited from candidates for this post which is available from 1 July 2002. Applicants should have had suitable experience and training, and be of the standing required for an appropriate honorary NHS contract. It is expected that the applicant would have obtained the final FRCR. The successful candidate will be required to undertake teaching and clinical duties, and also to carry out research. The appointment will be for four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The pensionable scale of stipends for a Clinical Lecturer is £25,015 a year rising by ten annual increments to £43,245. The postgraduate Dean has confirmed that this post and programme have the required educational and staffing approval.

Posts in the Research Services Division

Assistant Registrary (Technology Transfer Executive)

Experienced technology transfer specialist to play an important role in the protection and commercialization of the University's research results.

The post-holder will advise and assist University staff in evaluating and protecting intellectual property and then work with them from initial contact to the full commercialization of inventions.

The Division is seeking candidates with a background in engineering or a physical science, evidenced by a good first degree and possibly a Ph.D. Degree. Experience of both research and commercial environments is essential and post-holders will need to demonstrate an appropriate track record, with particular emphasis on the protection and commercialization of intellectual property. Post-holders will work with other offices of the University as well as external advisers and industrial partners, and will need to be a confident communicator and a persuasive negotiator, with excellent project management skills. The pensionable salary offered will be up to £34,734. Interviews will be held on 21 and 22 March.

Administrative Officer, Grade II (Technology Transfer Associate) or Administrative Officer, Grade I (Senior Technology Transfer Associate)

The Division is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible self-starter to join its expanding team focused on protecting and commercializing the University's research results.

The Associate will be directly supporting the Executives who help University staff to identify, evaluate, and protect intellectual property and promote its commercial use. He/she will also be helping to provide Departments with information on the Division's services.

For either position candidates should have a good first degree in a scientific discipline (in the general area of engineering/physical sciences/IT) and some experience in a commercial or research environment, together with an interest in managing intellectual property. Any knowledge of the patenting process, licensing, or other aspects of technology transfer would be an advantage and, for the more senior role, are essential. The pensionable salary offered will be up to £26,491 (Associate) and £29,709 (Senior Associate). Interviews will be held on 25 and 26 March.

Posts in the Faculty of Education

The Faculty is seeking to make the following appointments for the Economic and Social Research Council Teaching and Learning Research Programme, to start as soon as possible. The appointments will be made to 31 December 2005 in the first instance, but may be extended to the end of the Programme (31 December 2008).

Full-time or part-time Deputy and Associate Programme Director(s)

Significant expertise in research in either secondary education, further, and/or higher education, or adult, continuing, workplace, and lifelong education, is a defining requirement for the posts. Members of the team will have four key roles: supporting project colleagues and assisting the Director in monitoring project activities; engaging with research users and working to maximize the impact of the Programme; facilitating and, where appropriate, leading cross-Programme thematic work; and enhancing research capacity. (Salary: pro-rata, commensurate with a senior position).

Full-time Programme Office Manager

An excellent opportunity exists for a graduate or post-doctoral researcher/administrator to take on the full-time role of Programme Office Manager. The person appointed will provide support to the work of the Programme Team, including thematic development. A major role also concerns ensuring effective communication between projects within the Programme, with users in a wide range of settings and with the media. (Salary: £17,451 - £26,229, Research Associate/RAIA scale).

Newton Sheehy Teaching Fellowship in the Centre of International Studies

Applications are invited for the position which would start as soon as possible, to teach and supervise dissertations for graduate courses run by the Centre of International Studies. Preference will be given to those with an interest in peacekeeping, terrorism, or international alliances.

The pensionable scale of stipends on appointment will be £22,522 rising by eleven annual increments to £34,734 and the appointment will be for three years.
