University of Oxford

PROFESSORSHIP OF INORGANIC CHEMISTRY

The Professorship of Inorganic Chemistry at Oxford is one of the leading chairs in the subject, heading a sub-Department of high standing in the scale, quality, and diversity of the research being carried out. The University is now seeking to fill the chair, which will fall vacant on 30 September 2003 upon the retirement of Professor M. L. H. Green, FRS. The Professorship is associated with a non-stipendiary Professorial Fellowship at St Catherine's College.

The University intends to elect a person who, through leadership and the distinction of his or her own contribution to the field, will ensure the vigorous development of Inorganic Chemistry in Oxford, and its wider recognition outside. The successful candidate will have an outstanding research record of international stature in Inorganic Chemistry; a proven ability to attract external funding; and the vision, experience, and enthusiasm to develop the existing strengths of the sub-Department. The construction of a new £60 million Chemistry Research Laboratory, to open in 2003, will provide the highest quality space and facilities to the new Professor.

Applications (ten copies, or one only from overseas candidates), naming three persons who have agreed to act as referees, should be received not later than 8 April 2002 by the Registrar, University Offices, Wellington Square, Oxford, OX1 2JD, from whom further particulars may be obtained. Further particulars may also be accessed on the web (http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/fp/).
