Second M.B. Examination, 2002 (Preparing for Patients B): Notice

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine and the Faculty Board of Biology and notwithstanding Regulation 10(c) for the Second M.B. Examination (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 445), have agreed that candidates for Preparing for Patients B (PFPB) in the Second M.B. Examination in 2002 be required to undertake patient contact in the community during the Long Vacation 2002, and to submit records of course-work for PFPB not later than the first day of Full Michaelmas Term 2002. A candidate whose submission for PFPB fails to satisfy the Examiners shall be required to submit a revised report not later than the last day of the Full Michaelmas Term 2002.

The Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos and Second M.B. Examination have recently been substantially revised. These revisions included the incorporation of an element of patient contact early in the pre-clinical years (Preparing for Patients). As a result of resourcing difficulties, it has not been possible to run what would have been the initial year of the second part of the Preparing for Patients Course (PFPB) during Term in 2001-02.
