As part of the celebrations of the 650th Anniversary of the founding of the College, the 2002 Boutwood Lectures will be given by Roberto Mangabeira Unger, Professor of Law, Harvard University.
Professor Unger will deliver two lectures on The second way - why we need an alternative to the present consensus and what the alternative is. The lectures will be followed by a panel discussion, in which Professor Unger will participate.
The two lectures will take place on Monday, 21 and Tuesday, 22 January 2002, in the Mill Lane Lecture Rooms, at 5 p.m.
Lecture One is entitled: Why European social democracy is not good enough, and what should follow it.
Lecture Two is entitled: How a progressive alternative to European social democracy may require and enable us to change how we think and live.
On Wednesday, 23 January 2002, a panel discussion will be held in the McCrum Lecture Theatre, Corpus Christi College, at 5 p.m. The panelists will be John Dunn, Raymond Geuss, Geoffrey Hawthorn, and Quentin Skinner.
The lectures and panel discussion are open to all members of the University and all others who may be interested.
