Fitzwilliam Museum: Notice of Christmas Closure

The Fitzwilliam Museum will close to the public at 5 p.m. on 16 December in order to facilitate preparations for the Courtyard Development construction. The Founder's Building only will re-open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 5 January 2002, with highlights of the paintings and applied arts collections displayed in the upper galleries and antiquities in the lower galleries. The Museum's Education and Events programme, including gallery talks, lectures, and music, will continue during 2002-03, but there will be no Museum café and no temporary exhibitions.

The Museum Shop will remain open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, 17 to Friday, 21 December inclusive, and will re-open in its present location on Saturday, 5 January. It will move to new premises at 33 Trumpington Street, opposite the Museum, in February 2002. For up-to-date information, visit the Fitzwilliam Museum website (http:// www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/).
