With immediate effect

SCHEDULE D: PAPERS FROM OTHER TRIPOSES THAT MAY BE TAKEN IN PART II

By inserting at the beginning of this schedule the following sentence:

Candidates for the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos who take any of the papers in this schedule shall be assessed by written examination only.

With effect from 1 October 2002

Paper Pg. 3 (Portuguese literature, thought, and history since 1825) of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos has been replaced by a paper entitled 'Introduction to the language and literature of Portugal, Brazil, and Portuguese-speaking Africa'. The new paper will be available to candidates for Parts IB and II of the Tripos, but because of the introductory nature of the paper it will not be available to candidates who have previously offered Portuguese as one of their languages in Part IA or have a Certificate or Diploma from the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages in that language. Schedules B, IA, IB, and II have been amended as follows:

SCHEDULE B

By amending the title of Paper Pg. 3 so as to read:

Pg. 3. Introduction to the language and literature of Portugal, Brazil, and Portuguese-speaking Africa.

SCHEDULES Ia, Ib, and II

By amending the entries for Portuguese so as to read:

SCHEDULE IA

Portuguese: Pg. 1, 2.

SCHEDULE Ib

Portuguese: Pg. 1, 2†, 31, 5†, 6†, Sp. 11c2.

SCHEDULE II

Portuguese: Pg. 31, 5, 6.

1 This paper is not available to candidates who offered Portuguese as a language in Part IA or a Certificate or Diploma in Portuguese.
