RESEARCH ASSISTANT (JOURNALS OF LORD MACAULAY PROJECT)

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant, for one year starting 1 Feburary 2002, to a project for editing the MS Journals of Lord Macaulay, now in the Library of Trinity College, Cambridge. The Journals cover the years 1838-40 and 1848-59, and a full and correct typescript has now been completed, and some progress made with explanatory notes. The successful candidate will be expected to help with the completion of the explanatory notes to an edition, with a view to its publication. He or she should be a competent linguist and computer literate. Knowledge of mid-nineteenth-century British history would be an advantage.

The salary will be on the scale of £17,451 to £22,299 a year. Applications with a full curriculum vitae and summary of research interests (four typed copies), together with the names and addresses of two referees, should be sent by 14 December 2001 to the Administrator, Modern History Faculty, Broad Street, Oxford, OX1 3BD.
