New College

THREE-YEAR STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN MODERN BRITISH HISTORY

New College invites applications for a twelve-hour Stipendiary Lectureship in British Modern History for three years from 1 October 2002. The post requires the ability to teach principally in British History since 1830, but with a strong preference for candidates with both research and teaching interests in twentieth-century Britain. The successful candidate will teach the outline courses British History VI and VII at both Final Honour School and first-year Moderation level, should offer one each of Special, Further, and Optional subjects on modern British themes, and will assist in the preparation of students for the Comparative History and Historiography course.

The appointment will be paid on one of the following points of the University Junior Lecturer scale depending on age and experience: (Point One: £16,426, Point Two: £17,446, Point Three: £18,465, Point Four: £19,480, and Point Five: £20,261). The successful candidate will also receive a research allowance of £305, a book allowance of £440, and an entertainment allowance of £135. The Lecturer will be a member of the Senior Common Room, entitled to full rights of commons during term and vacation.
