DILIGENTI RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN MOLECULAR INFORMATICS

With the Unilever Centre for Molecular Informatics

Diligenti Ltd is supporting a Research Fellowship in Molecular Informatics to be held jointly at Pembroke College and The Unilever Centre for Molecular Informatics. The appointment will run from 1 March 2002 or a mutually convenient date thereafter.

The Unilever Centre for Molecular Informatics has been established to exploit the opportunities offered by the phenomenal amount of data that is currently being generated in all the sciences. To do this, the Centre has established a research programme with emphasis on the generation, analysis, and display of molecular data. The overlap between the scientific disciplines represented will present great opportunities for new discoveries.

Pembroke College has strong academic connec-tions with the corporate world. The College would be particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in physical or theoretical chemistry, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or computer sciences.

The Research Fellow will develop new methods for the analysis and display of multi-dimensional data in the biomedical and molecular sciences. Novel algorithms will be developed which will have wider use in the scientific community. Diverse sources of data are available for use in the project.

The Research Fellow will also be expected to carry out a moderate amount of undergraduate teaching for Pembroke College, up to a maximum of six hours a week in term-time. This will be separately remunerated.

Applications are sought from candidates with a strong research record in a numerical science. The appointment is for an initial three-year term, with the possibility of renewal thereafter. Salary is negotiable depending on experience. Completed applications should reach the College by 7 December 2001. Further particulars and application forms are available from the Senior Tutor's Secretary, Mrs Pat Whitby, Pembroke College, Cambridge, CB2 1RF (e-mail pat.whitby@pem.cam.ac.uk), and online at http://www.pem.cam.ac.uk/jobs/.

Pembroke College is an equal opportunities employer.
