Annual Meetings of Faculties

Archaeology and Anthropology

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 12 November 2001, in the Seminar Room of the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, Downing Street. All members of the Faculty are invited to attend. Reports on the past year will be presented by the Chairman of the Faculty, the Heads of Departments of Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, and Social Anthropology, the Director of the McDonald Institute, the Director and Curator of the Museum, Chair of the Admissions and Part I Teaching Committee, and the Haddon Librarian.

Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2002. The two retiring members, Dr M. L. S. Sørensen and Dr S. Bayly, are eligible for re-election.

Nominations and notification of any other business should be sent in writing to the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology, Downing Street, not later than Friday, 9 November 2001.

Classics

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Classics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Thursday, 15 November 2001 in Room G.19, the Classics Faculty Building, Sidgwick Avenue.

The main business will be to elect two members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 2002; and to elect two further members of the Faculty Board in class (c), one to serve until 31 December 2002, and the other to serve until 31 December 2004.

Nominations for these elections and notice of any other business for the Meeting should be sent in writing to the Secretary of the Faculty Board, Faculty of Classics, Sidgwick Avenue, to arrive not later than Thursday, 8 November 2001.

Economics and Politics

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Economics and Politics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 19 November 2001, in the Meade Room, Austin Robinson Building, Sidgwick Avenue. The Agenda for the meeting will be circulated to each member of the Faculty. One of the items of business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2002 and two members to serve for one year from 1 January 2002.

Nominations in writing, signed by the proposer, together with an indication of the nominee's willingness to serve, should reach the Secretary, Mr K. J. Coutts, Faculty of Economics and Politics, Austin Robinson Building, Sidgwick Avenue, by 5 p.m. on Thursday, 15 November. It would be convenient if notice of any other business that members wish to be discussed were sent in writing to the Secretary by 10 a.m. on Monday, 12 November 2001.

Engineering

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Engineering gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at l p.m. on Wednesday, 7 November 2001, in Lecture Room 6 of the Engineering Department. Ballot boxes will be available in the Press Site and the Whittle Laboratory. Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of one member in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 2002.

Nominations and notice of any other business should be sent in writing to the Secretary, Dr D. R. H. Jones, to reach him not later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, 1 November 2001.

English

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of English gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, 15 November 2001, in Seminar Room 3 of the History Faculty Building, West Road. The main business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), one member to serve for four years in class (c), from 1 January 2002.

Nominations for election, and notice of any other business for this meeting, should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board of English, 9 West Road (e-mail chgd2@cam.ac.uk), by Monday, 5 November.

History

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of History gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 13 November 2001, in Room 3, Faculty of History. The main business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c) four members of the Faculty Board in class (c), two to serve for four years with effect from 1 January 2002, one to serve with immediate effect to 31 December 2004, and one in class (c) to serve with immediate effect to 31 December 2003.

Nomination forms, signed by the nominee, the proposer, and seconder, should reach the Secretary at the Faculty of History, West Road, not later than 12 noon on Tuesday, 6 November.

Other business will be Examiners' Reports for 2001 and matters arising therefrom, Annual Reports of M.Phils. 2000-01, Seeley Library Report 2000-01, reform of Parts I and II of the Historical Tripos, the implications of the RAE for the Faculty's future policies, and Research Grants. Professor J. Morrill will make a presentation on AHRB opportunities.

Oriental Studies

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Oriental Studies gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 6 November 2001, in the Sorimachi Memorial Room in the Faculty of Oriental Studies Building, Sidgwick Site. Among the business to be transacted will be the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of two members to serve for four years from 1 January 2002.

Nomination forms are available from Miss J. Margrie, Faculty Administrator, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Sidgwick Site (tel. 01223 335107). Nominations, signed by the proposer and seconder, should be returned to the Administrator not later than Tuesday, 30 October 2001, together with notice of any other business.
