CAMDEN PROFESSORSHIP OF ANCIENT HISTORY

The electors intend to proceed to an election to the Camden Professorship of Ancient History with effect from 1 October 2002, or such later date as may be arranged, in succession to Professor F. G. B. Millar, FBA.

The Professor will be expected to have and to maintain an outstanding record in research and publication and to play a major part in sustaining and promoting research in Roman History. No priority will be given to any particular area of expertise; the Professor should have broad interests and sympathies, and provide academic leadership over a wide area of Roman History (complementing that of the Wykeham Professor in Greek History).

A non-stipendiary fellowship at Brasenose College is attached to the professorship.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROFESSORSHIP OF THE LATIN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

The electors intend to proceed to an election to the Corpus Christi Professorship of the Latin Language and Literature with effect from 1 October 2002, or such later date as may be arranged, in succession to Professor M. Winterbottom, FBA.

The Professor will be expected to have and to maintain an outstanding record in research and publication, and to play a major part in sustaining and promoting research in Latin Language and Literature. No priority will be given to any particular area of expertise; the Professor should have broad interests and sympathies, and provide academic leadership over a wide area of Latin Language and Literature, both poetry and prose. A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Corpus Christi College is attached to the professorship.

VARLEY-GRADWELL TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP IN INSECT ECOLOGY

Applications are invited for a travelling Fellowship of up to £2,000 in value. It will support fieldwork, travel, etc., in the area of insect ecology.
