WATERMAN PRIZE

The Waterman Prize, 2001, has been jointly awarded to Ayesha Nathoo NH, for her M.Phil. essay, entitled Phrenology goes bust!: the material culture of a nineteenth century popular science, and Paul Miller DAR, for his essay entitled Sounding the depths: trials and tribulations in the development of sounding machines. The prize is awarded annually by the Board of History and Philosophy of Science to the student who has produced the best work using the collection of the Whipple Museum.
