Homerton College

HALF-TIME TEACHING OFFICER IN ENGLISH STUDIES

The College is seeking to appoint a College Teaching Officer in English to take up the post as soon as possible. Teaching is required in the field of Modern Literature (1890 until the present day). Interest and preferably experience in film, theatre, and international literature would be particularly welcomed. The successful applicant will work primarily with seven other members of staff teaching the English and Drama components of the Cambridge University B.A. in Education, involving about 130 students over a duration of four teaching years. The post is for a fixed period of three years and on the University's Assistant Lecturer scale, starting at £19,486 (pro-rata £9,743 for a half-time post). The main duties will be supervising students in small groups for an approximate total of 130 hours over three University terms (of eight weeks each). There will also be some administrative duties on behalf of students, including assessment of written work, and attendance at staff meetings.

Homerton has recently merged its work in Education with the Faculty of Education in the University of Cambridge and is building up a corps of College teaching officers, to whom Fellowships may become available as the College develops.
