Lucy Cavendish College

The College invites applications for research studentships from women accepted to undertake postgraduate research at the University of Cambridge. Preference will be given to those nominating Lucy Cavendish as their College of first preference in CIGAS Form A, and recipients will be required to be members of the College. Studentships available include:

Lord Frederick Cavendish (any subject), Becker (law), Harris (any subject), Masterman-Braithwaite (preference for linguistics), Evelyn Povey Studentship for Research in Medieval or Renaissance French Literature, and Joseph and Dorothy Needham Studentship (natural sciences but with a preference for biochemistry).

The Ruth Tomlinson Memorial Award of £1,000 a year is available for a disabled member of the College (graduate or undergraduate).

Bursaries for undergraduates include bursaries which give preference to single parents and applicants from north-west England. The value of studentships and bursaries will vary according to the means of the applicants, and will normally be not less than £500 a year, but none will provide full funding. Closing date for applications: 31 May 2002. Applications should be sent to the Secretary of the Studentship and Bursary Committee, Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, CB3 0BU. Applicants must ask a referee to send a letter in support of their application by 31 May 2002.
