Clare Hall

Prospective and current Clare Hall Graduate Students are eligible to apply for bursaries in one of the following categories:

MELLON BURSARIES

Two Mellon Bursaries of £5,000 are available to provide maintenance support for students of outstanding potential; each Bursary will be tenable for up to three years. Next available from 2002-03.

PIPPARD BURSARIES

Each academic year the College offers Pippard Bursaries of between £1,500 and £2,000 each to assist UK self-funded students starting their courses in the coming year.

SEUNG JUN LEE BURSARY

The Seung Jun Lee Bursary, named in memory of a former Clare Hall student, for an outstanding student working towards a Ph.D. in the social sciences. The £3,500 award is normally tenable for three years. Next available from 2002-03.

JONATHAN HART BURSARY AND HENRY SULLIVAN BURSARY

The Jonathan Hart and Henry Sullivan Bursaries, to the value of £500 each, are available to students with demonstrated needs.

CLARE HALL MINOR BURSARIES

In addition to the above bursaries, Clare Hall offers a number of other bursaries of between £500 and £2,000 for maintenance support and supplementary funding, based on merit or merit plus financial need.

RESEARCH AWARDS

Research awards of £100 are available to students in their first year of graduate study, and £250 to those in their second and thirds years, towards conference expenses or for the purchase of books (up to half the amount claimed).

Prospective students should indicate on CIGAS Form A (submitted to the Board of Graduate Studies) that they wish to be considered for a Clare Hall bursary and will be sent an application form if they are accepted by the College. Applications for awards should be received as soon as possible and preferably no later than 31 July 2002. Current students should contact their Tutor.
