Research Awards of the Board of Graduate Studies: Notice

Statutes and Ordinances, 2001, p. 130, Regulation 2(h)

The Board of Graduate Studies invite applications for a limited number of Research Awards which they propose to make in May 2002 and October or November 2002. Awards may be made at least once a year to Graduate Students, provided that they (a) have relied, during their course of research, on a substantial part of the required fees and living expenses being met from their own funds or other private source and are in unforeseen financial difficulties, (b) are formally registered for the Ph.D. Degree and have completed at least four terms of research as a registered Graduate Student of the University, (c) have shown a high aptitude for research, and (d) are not eligible to seek support from the Lundgren Fund or from the scheme of Research Awards for Overseas Research Students in the Humanities and Social Sciences. To avoid disappointment and unrealistic requests, applicants are asked to note that the average size of award is around £500.

Forms of application may be obtained from the office of the Board of Graduate Studies, 4 Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RZ. Applications must be sent to the Secretary of the Board of Graduate Studies so as to arrive not later than 31 March 2002 for consideration in May 2002 and not later than 30 September 2002 for consideration in October or November 2002.
