Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CRASSH) and Theory, Culture, and Society Centre, Nottingham Trent University

A colloquium, entitled The idea of an encyclopaedia: technologies of classification and the ordering of knowledge, will be held from 29 to 31 July at Lucy Cavendish College. The colloquium will cover the following thematic areas: (i) Constructing encyclopaedias; (ii) The encyclopaedia, the museum, and the archive: the origin of public space; and (iii) Problematizing classification: codes, flows, and complex systems.
