Pembroke College

STIPENDIARY LECTURERSHIP IN PURE MATHEMATICS

The College invites applications for a stipendiary Lecturership in Pure Mathematics tenable from 1 October 2001. Applicants from outside Oxford should note that College Lecturerships involve tutorial teaching but do not include University lectures. The Lecturership will be tenable for one year. The College has undergraduates studying Mathematics (three-year and four-year courses) and Mathematics and Philosophy (four-year course). It also has Visiting Students in Mathematics largely on Junior Year Abroad schemes from US universities. The successful candidate will be expected to teach twelve hours of tutorials a week spread over each year of undergraduate study, and to be responsible for the wider administration of the subject, including Admissions in association with the Fellow in Numerical Mathematics, Dr Raphael Hauser. The annual stipend will be within the range £17,755 to £19,482. In addition the Lecturer will be entitled to Senior Common Room rights. Further particulars can be obtained from Joanne Kerry (tel. 01865 286089).

Applications should reach the Senior Tutor, Pembroke College, Oxford, OX1 1DW, by 20 July 2001. Candidates should submit a full curriculum vitae (six copies) and request two referees to write, in confidence, to the Senior Tutor by the closing date. Interviews will be held on 30 July 2001.

Pembroke College is an equal opportunities employer.
