Notice of benefactions

14 May 2001

The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has accepted with gratitude the following benefactions:

(a) a benefaction of $10m from The Pyewacket Foundation to establish a fund, to be called the Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance, for the promotion of research into all aspects of finance, financial institutions, and financial markets, and their relationship with the performance of the economy;
(b) an anonymous benefaction of approximately £1.4m to establish a fund, to be called the Study of Religion Fund, for the advancement of the study of religion;
(c) a benefaction of approximately £1m from the Azerila Foundation, Trustees of the estate of Mr and Mrs Freydoun Soudavar, to endow a Ali Reza and Mohamed Soudavar Lectureship in Persian Studies.

The Council are submitting Graces to the Regent House (Graces 3, 4, and 5, p. 713) for the approval of regulations to govern these funds.
