REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICE BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Engineering Tripos, Part IIA, and Electrical and Information Sciences Tripos, Part I

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 279)

With effect from 1 October 2001

Following the establishment of the Cambridge-MIT Institute by Grace 9 of 22 March 2000 (Reporter, 1999-2000, p. 582), the first student exchanges between the University of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have been arranged for the academical year 2001-02. In order to enable students who undertake such exchanges, and are therefore not in residence for their third year, to proceed to the B.A. Degree and the M.Eng. and M.Sci. Degrees the regulations for certain Triposes will require amendment. The regulations for the Engineering Tripos and the Electrical and Information Sciences Triposes have accordingly been amended as follows:

(1) By inserting a new Regulation 22 as follows:

22. A candidate who, under arrangements approved by the Faculty Board of Engineering, has spent not less than three terms studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been certified by the President of the Institute after consultation with the Chairman of Examiners for Part IIA of the Engineering Tripos and Part I of the Electrical and Information Sciences Tripos to have studied diligently during that period, shall be deemed thereby to have obtained honours in Part IIA of the Engineering Tripos or Part I of the Electrical and Information Sciences Tripos. A list containing the names of persons so qualified shall be certified by the Chairman of the Faculty Board of Engineering and published in the Reporter.

(2) By renumbering the current Regulation 22 as 23 and inserting in line 2 after 'Electrical and Information Sciences Tripos' the following 'or has been deemed to have obtained honours in Part IIA of the Engineering Tripos or in Part I of the Electrical and Information Sciences Tripos under Regulation 22'.

(3) By renumbering current Regulations 23 to 29 as 24 to 30 respectively, and amending cross-references accordingly.
