Dr M. A. Tester, of the Department of Plant Sciences, will deliver a lecture, entitled GM: stress therapy for plants, at 8.30 p.m. on Monday, 5 February, in the Cockcroft Lecture Theatre, New Museums Site. All who are interested are invited. There will be a short business meeting before the lecture.
At a meeting held on 22 January, Professor A. Howie, President, was in the Chair. Professor L. Mahadevan, of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, delivered the G. I. Taylor Lecture, entitled Buckling phenomena in fluids: folding, coiling, and wrinkling. A vote of thanks was moved by Professor T. J. Pedley, FRS.
