Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies

LECTOR IN YIDDISH

Applications are invited for the post of Lector in Yiddish. The primary responsibility of the Lector will be to teach Yiddish to graduate students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Applicants should be fully qualified in the spoken and written language, and experience in teaching Yiddish at university level would be advantageous. The Lector will be expected to reside in or near Oxford. All teaching the Lector undertakes is conducted at Yarnton Manor near Oxford.

The appointment is full-time from 1 January 2001 for two academic terms (six months), at a salary of £14,500 pro rata. The appointment is renewable.

Applications, including a curriculum vitae and a brief sample of the candidate's written Yiddish, should be sent to the Student Registrar by 29 November 2000. Applicants should also arrange for three academic referees to write directly to the Student Registrar by the same date.
