In a Notice published on 9 August 2000 (Reporter, 1999-2000, p. 1053), comments were invited from interested parties for consideration by working groups looking into some key areas of personnel management. These include:
(i) | reward and remuneration (particularly in the context of recruitment and retention); |
(ii) | how appointments are made; |
(iii) | the introduction of a common methodology for assessing basic salary; |
(iv) | promotions procedures for Professors and Readers; |
(v) | contract research staff (with particular reference to the Concordat and the Research Careers Initiative). |
The original deadline for comments was 31 August 2000; however it is not too late to make a contribution. Written comments, which will be treated in confidence, on any of the above topics, should be addressed to Peter Deer, Director of Personnel, 25 Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1QA.
