Working groups on personnel management: Reminder

In a Notice published on 9 August 2000 (Reporter, 1999-2000, p. 1053), comments were invited from interested parties for consideration by working groups looking into some key areas of personnel management. These include:

(i) reward and remuneration (particularly in the context of recruitment and retention);
(ii) how appointments are made;
(iii) the introduction of a common methodology for assessing basic salary;
(iv) promotions procedures for Professors and Readers;
(v) contract research staff (with particular reference to the Concordat and the Research Careers Initiative).

The original deadline for comments was 31 August 2000; however it is not too late to make a contribution. Written comments, which will be treated in confidence, on any of the above topics, should be addressed to Peter Deer, Director of Personnel, 25 Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1QA.
